Match Preview v Airdrie (A) - 8th October 22

After four home games we are back on the road this weekend as we head to Airdrie for our league one match. The Diamonds were visitors to Palmerston back in August when we picked up a point apiece in a one all draw. It was a poor first half performance from us, but we were much better after the break and Gavin Reilly scored to cancel out Callum Smith’s opener.

Looking ahead to the game, manager Wullie Gibson said “It’s a big game, obviously the last time we played them, we put in probably the worst first half performance I’ve seen for a while, so we’ve got a lot to prove since then. We go into the game on the back of three very good performances, three dominant performances so we can take confidence into the game on Saturday.

The one thing I have been looking for is consistency, it is something we had been lacking but that’s three games in a row now we’ve been on top so hopefully it can continue, and we can make it four.

It was disappointing to only pick up a point for such a dominant performance against Alloa, but there is no real reason to pick the players up because they were excellent in the game and they know it’s fine lines in football, we didn’t take our chances and we got punished but in terms of effort and the way we played, we can take confidence. It wasn’t a game where we were backs against the wall, we were so comfortable.

I would like to be higher up the table, but we didn’t perform in the early games of the season, so we will be looking to pick up more points in this quarter so that we can stay on the tails of the leaders and look to capitalise if they slip up”.
