Match Preview v Kelty Hearts (H) - 17th Dec

Weather permitting, we will have our first home game in nearly a month tomorrow as we welcome Kelty Hearts to Palmerston in league one.

We faced Kelty for the first time in October (the original September date postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth) when Michael Tidser scored the only goal of the game to give the hosts a 1-0 victory.

With recent performances having picked up, confidence is high going into the game, Manager Wullie Gibson said “Our performances in the last few weeks have been more like what we are looking for and expecting from the players.

Last Friday we made it through to the quarter finals of a national cup competition with a spirited performance. After what happened the last time against Alloa going 2 - 1 down could’ve been in the player’s minds but they dug deep and showed real character to go on and win comfortably.

This weekend we face Kelty Hearts, who we will also face next month in the last eight of the cup following that win over Alloa. We were not at our best the last time we played Kelty so we have some things to put right but I feel that we’re in a better place than we were then and it’s a home game so we will be looking to keep the momentum going and send everyone home happy”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

There are weather warnings in place which might make travel difficult and there are a number of roadworks around town and the surrounding areas so supporters should allow extra time and check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match.  And of course the new Snaq Cafe is now open within the Arena.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Tomorrow marks the end of our reverse advent calendar. All donations for our Community Fridge can be handed into the Arena or Press office ahead of the game. Donations can also be left at the Arena during the week. All donations will be gratefully received to help people within the area over the Festive Period.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 3 pm. As you will all be aware we have experienced an extreme drop in temperatures for a sustained period of time. The pitch can obviously withstand a lot more than grass, but it does have it’s limits so please keep across the website and our social platforms in the morning.
