Match Preview v Alloa (H) - 7th Jan 2023

Jan 6 2023 15:28

We are back at Palmerston tomorrow for our first game of 2023. With the cup game against Kelty to come on Tuesday, tomorrow’s match against Alloa Athletic is the middle of a three-match home run.

This will be our fourth game against The Wasps this season and so far, it’s a draw and a win apiece.

Despite dominating the game at home in October, the visitors stung us with a late strike from Ross MacIver to take a share of the points in a 1-1 draw. Gavin Reilly who scored in that game also gave us an early lead on our first visit to the Indodrill in November, but after MacIver equalised just before half-time, a second half collapse saw us go on to lose 5-1. While last month, we overturned that defeat when Lee Connelly scored a double and further goals from Ciaran McKenna and Josh Todd saw us through to the quarter finals of the SPFL Trust Trophy with a 4-2 victory.

Brian Rice’s side currently sit fifth in the table, three points ahead of us.

Ahead of the game, Grant Murray said “Last week against Clyde was an excellent way to round off 2022. It wasn’t the best game of football, but the boys showed character in the second half and dug in to get the win and a massive three points.

We now need to build on that result by focusing on one game at a time.

It’s Alloa up next, we’ve had mixed results against this season so far. They’re a well organised side but it is another game that we will look win.

We are at Palmerston, so we want to win our home games. The fans were great last week so thank you for your backing, keep getting behind the team”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). People travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café with the Arena is also now open and will have a range of snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 3 pm.
