Match Preview v Montrose (A) - 14th Jan 23

Following a run of home games, we are back on the road tomorrow when we head to Links Park to face Montrose in league one.

We have faced each other twice so far this season, Montrose were the hosts for our first away game of the campaign back in August. Max Currie saved Graham Webster’s first half penalty to keep the game goal-less and ensure we came back down the road with a point.

There were goals a plenty when we met at Palmerston in November, Ruari Paton’s first half double had us two up at the break before Gavin Reilly and Josh Todd added two more in the second half to give us a 4-0 win.

Stewart Petrie’s side currently sit 6th in the table, four points ahead of us.

All being well, new signings, Jack Brydon and Kevin Dabrowski will be in the squad for the game.

After watching from the stands on Tuesday night, manager, Marvin Bartley will be in the dugout for the first time and looking ahead to the game he said “I’ve watched a lot of Montrose and been lucky to get a few scout reporters as well, it’s a long journey which makes it difficult but it’s one we’re looking forward to. It is one we want to put our stamp on and I’m looking for a good all-round performance.

You don’t secure the play-offs in January, it’s at the end of the season that matters, so I wouldn’t say it’s a must win, a good performance is a must, do I want to win the game 100%, but I’m not going to say it’s a must win, we could lose this game, lose the next one and still go on and make the play-offs so in terms of that it’s not a must win but we need to put in good performance”.
