Match Preview v Kelty Hearts (A) - 18th Feb

After a break due to the Scottish Cup, we are back in action tomorrow when we travel to New Central Park to face Kelty Hearts.

Having already played two leagues and a SPFL Trust Trophy quarter final tie this will be our fourth meeting of the season so far. The hosts got the better of us both times in the league, Michael Tidser scoring the only goal of the game on our last visit to Kelty in October, while they came from behind at Palmerston to take all three points. Ruari Paton had given us an early lead only for Nathan Austin and Kallum Higginbotham to score two goals in the space of four minutes in the closing stages to earn the win. We did, however, get the better of them in the cup on penalties after a goal-less 90 minutes.

They currently sit a place and thee points behind us in league one.

Looking ahead to the game, Manager, Marvin Bartley said “The boys put everything into the game against Hamilton in the cup tie but sometimes in life you don’t get what you deserve. We are obviously disappointed not to make it to the final, but we can’t get too high or too low, so we move on.

This week we head to Kelty, previous games have been close, and I expect this to be another tight affair against a hardworking side who will punish you if you make mistakes. So, like we always do we have to work to nullify their strengths and try to capitalise on their weaknesses. They have only lost one in the last six, but I think we are sharper and playing at a higher intensity. If we can get the win, we will hopefully close the gap on the teams above and that is what we will focus on rather than looking at the teams below”.
