Match Preview v Montrose (H) - 21st April 23

Tomorrow we are back at Palmerston for our penultimate home game of the league one campaign when Montrose are the visitors for the 3pm kick off.

It is one win apiece and a draw between the sides so far this season. The game ended goal-less in August when we visited Links Park, while in November a Ruari Paton double along with goals from Gavin Reilly and Josh Todd eased us to a 4-0 victory at Palmerston. On our return trip north, Blair Lyons scored the only goal of the game just after the hour mark to secure the points for the hosts.

They currently sit seventh, one place and three points behind us in the table.

Ahead of the game Manager Marvin Bartley said “Our unbeaten run came to an end last weekend as we stumbled against Dunfermline. They were crowned champions and deserved to win the game, I don’t think the score line was a true reflection, but it happened, and it is a learning curve for us.

Until then the boys had been on an incredible run with five wins and a draw. They deserve a lot of credit for getting themselves into the position they have.

Last week was a knock for us but we need to bounce back and stay focused for the three games that we’ve got left.

This week we welcome a well organised side in Montrose who always make it a difficult game, but we need to take care of our own business, start another run, and see where it takes us”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

Roadworks continue around the region but no major delays are expected, however people travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation on the day.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café with the Arena is also now open and will have a range of snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Food donations for our Community Fridge can be handed in at the Club Shop or to the volunteers at the Press Office from 1pm.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 3 pm.
