Further to this afternoon’s contract extensions, the club are delighted to announce the season long loan signing of highly rated Hibernian goalkeeper Murray Johnson. The young Hibs goalkeeper penned a 4-year deal with the Edinburgh side keeping him at the club until summer 2027. During his emergency loan spell with Airdrie this past season, Murray won the clubs player of the month, keeping 3 clean sheets out of 5.
Manager Marvin Bartley was delighted with the signing and said this, "Murray is a young goalkeeper with a huge future in the game, recently he has broken into the Scotland under 21 setup. His impressive performances for Hibs over a prolonged period resulted in him earning a long contract extension with the Edinburgh side. With the earlier news about Gordon, I feel we now have two number 1’s to drive each other on and we will continue to strive for competition amongst the squad to drive each other on in the forthcoming season. I am delighted to get this one over the line early, work is continuously ongoing to identify players suitable to take this club to the next level."
Murray Johnson himself said ' I am buzzing to get the loan done and play first team football. Coming to work under Marv with the relationship we have, and his vision, excited me going forward, I know Jack (Brydon) and he had nothing but positives to say about the coaching staff and the club. I want to play as much as possible and will try my very best to make that number 1 shirt my own. After speaking to Marv it was clear this was going to be the right fit for me in my development."
