Unfortunately, we can confirm that our appeal against Gordon’s red card at Cove Rangers on Saturday has not been successful and his two match suspension has been re-imposed. We felt we had a good case in defence of Gordon but it is unfortunately very difficult to prove an incident like this did not happen with video evidence. We had one camera at the game, which was about 50 yards from the incident. As a club we continue to support and stand by our player.
Following the appeal process Gordon said, “The Club supported me in appealing the decision but the panel upheld the decision. I categorically refute the allegation for which I have been suspended. I would like to thank the Manager, my team-mates and the Club for their support throughout the appeal process. I am grateful that those who know me well believe that I am innocent. I can only now look forward to being back out competing for clean sheets and three points for Queens soon.”
Manager Marvin Bartley added, “Gordon has strongly refuted the accusation made against him. I have only ever known Gordon to be an upstanding respectful professional in all he does. Having watched back the footage I have no reason to disbelieve Gordon’s version of events and I will continue to support Gordon through this process.”
The Club will make no further comment on the matter.
