Match Preview v Kelty Hearts (A) - 30th Sept 23

We are back on the road tomorrow as we head to Kelty Hearts in league one.

In the five meetings between the two sides last season, it’s the hosts that hold the upper hand with three wins. Our two victories were a penalty shoot out win in the SPFL Trust Trophy quarter final and on the last day of the season when we were 4-1 winners at Palmerston thanks to goals from Harry Cochrane, Connor Murray and a Ruari Paton double.

Our two visits to New Central Park didn’t go well, with now Kelty Manager, Michael Tidser scoring the only goal of the game in the first meeting and Kallum Higginbotham scoring twice, either side of Alfredo Agyemon in a 3-0 defeat the last time we were there.

Kelty currently sit two places and a point behind us in the table.

Looking ahead to the game, Manager, Marvin Bartley said “Losing last week at home to Hamilton was again frustrating for us. Especially in the manner that we lost it, it was our own doing that we didn’t take a point by switching off and not attacking the danger. We need to defend as a team, not just the defenders. We need to mark and pick up our man and stay switched on, but there is still a lot of football to be played, leagues are not won or lost in September.

It's important that we go on a run, so we need to go out and play the game, do our jobs, and take care of our own business. We want a win, it doesn’t matter how, if it’s a bad performance and we win rather than a decent performance and lose then I will take that”
