Match Preview v Alloa Athletic 3rd Aug 24

Our William Hill League One campaign gets underway tomorrow with a trip to Alloa.

The four league games against The Wasps were close last season, the hosts winning two of them, 4-3 and 1-0 while the last game at Palmerston in January ended in a one all draw and we picked up a 2-0 victory in our last meeting at the Indodrill Stadium. Joel Mumbongo and Craig McGuffie were our players on the scoresheet that day.

Looking ahead to the first league game of this season, Manager Peter Murphy said “This is what we have been building up to. The league cup group matches were good in that it gave us competitive matches before the league campaign. We learned a lot from the games and the boys have done well and showed some good signs. But for me they come way too early and take their toll on teams like ourselves. We have picked up a few injuries to key players along the way but we are managing them and the players that have played have been excellent.

The league has always been our main focus so we are all looking forward to get going. These games offer up different challenges. We start away at Alloa, which is never an easy place to go but wherever we started was always going to be tough, so we will go there and play to our strengths and look to come away with a result to get us off the mark.

It will be a long season and we are looking forward to the whole club getting behind each other and pushing up the table”
